Quote from Horsehead

"The bass is downright awesome! Deep, tight, articulate and most of all musical. With the right passages, they will definitely give you that “punched in the chest” bass- something I never had in my room before. Above all, the bass is fast which means detail- no blurring of bass notes. The ability of this speaker to start and stop means the bass is tight and full with no overhang, muddiness, or timing issues. I’m hearing low frequency details that were simply masked before. Bass notes also take on a solidness and identity, rather than being more diffuse- hard for me to describe. The bass from the Continuums is pretty much the best I have ever heard. Imaging and soundstage are first rate. Voices image from a solid, tangible, and tight area between the two loudspeakers- reach out and touch someone quality. I’m getting a nice wide and deep soundstage that varies with the recording. Within that soundstage, instruments and voices are imaging with lifelike clarity and placement. Each instrument appears to occupy its own sense of space and it’s easy to “focus” in on a certain instrument in the recording. Background vocals on choruses are easily heard instead of blending in. What’s great is that the speakers simply disappear and I’m often left with wall to wall sound if the recording has a nice wide soundstage. Sounds extend between, behind, and to the sides of the speakers with no hint of localization. Standing up doesn’t change the sound at all, and off-axis listening is pretty good. I used the Continuums with the home theater side of my equipment and was blown away by the results. "

Double Ugly

Quote from Double Ugly

"Soundstage, imaging, separation are all above average IMO, and I'm sure they'd be better in a dedicated - or better treated – listening room. What I’ve tried to say is that they’re musical, INFINITELY musical speakers, and are very, very accurate. They're emotionally involving, yet uncolored. If you like your music as warm as your bedtime milk, look elsewhere. If you have a hearing impairment and need the highs to break glass and kill rodents at anything above 85db, move on. If you have a problem component you need to mask, you've come to the wrong place. But if you want an accurate speaker that conveys what’s on the disc in a musical way, and you have up to $3k to spend (depending on the finish), an audition is worth a thousand reviews. "

"If you are in the market for speakers and have $3k or even substantially more to spend, I recommend discovering the SP Technology speakers. As these speakers are rather inefficient, bring an amp with at least 200 watts/channel to the table, and you will enjoy awesome sound. I have a feeling this company will do very well with the Timepiece model and gain well deserved attention for the superb sound quality and value they bring to the market. "

AudioJerry

Auditioner

Quote from AudioJerry

"The Timepiece excels at imaging and soundstaging. Again, they set a new standard for me. Dead-on image placement with exact positioning of performers on a virtual stage. Recordings with vocals are normally placed at the center, and with the Timepiece the vocalist is up front either on the same plane or just slightly behind the speakers. A lot of speakers seem to push most vocals too far back, or aggressively too far forward. The Timepiece's portrayal of space is convincingly holographic and images are dense. Each performer occupies an easily identifiable position and is seemingly touchable. There is no smearing or blurring of notes. "

"One of my primary reasons for frequenting the various audio forums on the Internet is in a search for what will hopefully be the last speakers and amplifiers that I purchase. I had selected the Continuums along with three other speakers to be on my short list of speakers to audition prior to making that purchase. After auditioning the Continuums I think it is unlikely that any of the other contenders will match their dynamic and other abilities. Just to satisfy myself I will however listen to the remaining speakers before I make a decision. It is however my opinion that most music lovers would not regret the purchase of these speakers as long as they have adequate power and reasonably high quality associated equipment."
